ABOUT BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS

Big Brothers Big Sisters provides direct service to children and youth facing adversity by matching them with caring volunteers in quality one-to-one mentoring relationships. BBBS agency staff members are experts at recruiting and screening volunteers; making intentional, meaningful matches; and providing the support necessary for mentoring relationships to have a lasting impact.

Last year alone, BBBS created and empowered 850 mentoring matches for children and youth in and around Calgary who are facing adversity. At the core of this impact are the more than 800 dedicated volunteers who gave over 32,000 hours to be a consistent, caring source of support to young people in our communities in need of additional supportive relationships.

With the guidance and support of a caring mentor, the children and youth who come to BBBS for support build their social emotional competence and executive functioning skills, allowing them to become resilient and achieve more. Through mentorship, young people are reminded that they can be anything they dream of being.
